How to solve a word search
Every word in the list is hidden in the grid. Find and ring each one.
The method
- 1Pick a word from the list. Start with a long or unusual word; it stands out and has fewer places to hide.
- 2Scan for its first letter. Look across the grid for that letter, then check the squares around it for the second.
- 3Follow the straight line. Words run across, down or diagonally, and may read forwards or backwards. Trace the line to the end.
- 4Ring it and tick it off. Loop the word in the grid and cross it off the list, so you can see what is left.
- The one rule
- Each listed word appears once, in a straight line, somewhere in the grid.

- How the grades differ
- Bigger grids and longer lists, with more diagonal and backward words, take longer.
