Arrow mazes

An arrow maze fills an arrow outline, so the shape points somewhere while the route inside it does not. Pick a size, generate, and print it with the solved route.

Output

A coding path turns the maze into a write-the-arrows worksheet.

The maze fills this outline.

Ages 7–10

This one reads medium rather than easy.

Passages

A true maze: one way through, and wrong turns stop dead.

The route has to pass through every one.

How the passages wind. Each one has its own texture to solve.

Two pages: the maze and its answer. The answer is worked out from the maze itself rather than drawn alongside it, so it can never be wrong. Same engine as our KDP studio.

The joke the shape makes

An arrow promises a direction and the maze inside it refuses to keep that promise, which is the whole reason this shape is worth printing. It works well as the first page of a book, where it sets the tone before the solver has done any work.

Keep it small. The point of an arrow wastes a lot of grid, and at the larger settings the tail does most of the carrying while the head is a corridor or two.

four ways out, inside an outline

Picture shape

A square-grid maze carved to fill a silhouette: a heart, a star, a crescent moon, a cat, a tree.

How it solves
It solves like a square maze, but the outline does half the work for you. A corridor that runs into the tip of a star has nowhere to go, so the shape itself rules out whole branches once you learn to read it.
Good for
Cards, classroom handouts and anything that has to look like a gift.

Questions

Are these arrow mazes free to print?
Yes. Generate the maze above and print it with its answer, at no cost and with no sign-up. It is free for classroom, home and personal use.
Is there exactly one way through?
Yes. The maze is carved as a spanning tree, which means every square is reachable and exactly one route joins any two of them. The answer page draws that route, found by searching the maze itself rather than drawn alongside it.
Can I make a maze book to sell on KDP?
Yes. The free tool makes one maze. Publisher Studio generates hundreds of graded mazes in one shape, with an optional how-to-solve page, at any KDP trim, as a print-ready 300 DPI interior and a matching solutions PDF.
