Large Kakuro

A 7 by 7 Kakuro is a long, satisfying solve: more runs, more crossings, and sums that take real bookkeeping. Like every puzzle here it has exactly one solution, printed on page two.

Bigger grids and longer runs are harder. Every puzzle has one solution.

7×7 grid. Fill each run with distinct digits 1 to 9 that add up to its clue.

Two pages: the puzzle and its completed grid. Every puzzle has one solution, checked by the same engine as our KDP studio.

How to solve a kakuro

Kakuro is a crossword done with numbers: fill each run of white squares with digits that add up to its clue.

The method

  1. 1Read the clues. A number in a black square is the total for the run of white squares to its right or below it.
  2. 2Fill runs with 1 to 9, no repeats. Each run uses digits 1 to 9, and no digit repeats within a single run.
  3. 3Start with the tight runs. A two-square run adding to 3 can only be 1 and 2. Short runs and extreme totals have few combinations, so begin there.
  4. 4Use the crossings. Every white square sits in an across run and a down run. A digit must satisfy both, which quickly narrows the choices.
The one rule
Fill the white squares so each run adds to its clue, using 1 to 9 with no repeat in a run.
What the answer page shows
The filled grid is printed at the back.
How the grades differ
Larger grids with longer runs allow more combinations and need more crossing logic.
Good for
Solvers who enjoy sums and the crossword-style grid.
